eco-friendly cosmetics and sustainability are part of our DNA
At melumé, protecting the environment and preserving it for future generations is as important to us as it is to you: eco-friendly cosmetics and sustainability are part of our DNA. That's why we use the most environmentally friendly materials for our ingredients and packaging, and never stop striving to find the latest and most environmentally friendly solutions for our melumé products.
Our melumé folding boxes are made from an FSC Mix material. The recognised and well-known FSC label means that we are actively contributing to the promotion of responsible forest management and higher environmental and social standards in forests worldwide. FSC Mix stands for products that can use materials from FSC-certified forests, recycled materials and materials from controlled sources (Controlled Wood).
For our products that are filled in tubes, we only use sustainable Eco Design tubes made of polyethylene (PE): Due to the mono-material used, which concerns both the tube and the tube closure, the tube as a whole can be reintroduced into a PE recycling cycle. This means it is so environmentally friendly that it is completely recyclable and therefore fits perfectly into our DNA.
Wherever possible, we avoid synthetic ingredients: our formulas are 100 per cent vegan and 98 per cent natural in origin, completely without PEGs, silicones, parabens, phenoxyethanol, microplastics, mineral oils. This is how we keep our ecological footprint super small.
In addition to our natural main active ingredient Holimel® (SOD B®), we rely on other natural active ingredients, for example: Lupine seed extract, Papaya extract, Moringa extract, Rosemary extract, Inca Inchi oil or Buriti oil. We know that nature gives us everything our skin needs.
Even with our sun protection factors, in our melumé sun protection milk, we rely exclusively on the two mineral UV filters: zinc oxide and titanium dioxide. Because there are no synthetic light protection filters in this, this cream does not contribute to the bleaching of corals.
If we use raw materials based on palm oil, it is of course sustainable, RSPO certified and Mass Balance (MB) quality, thus addressing the environmental and social problems caused by the expansion of palm oil plantations.
